Cards To Honor Tillman at Pats Game; Family Releases Info on Foundation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday, July 14, 2004

Tempe, AZ – The Cardinals announced today that the team will honor former safety PAT TILLMAN with a special halftime tribute during the first home game of the 2004 regular season. The tribute, which will take place when the Cardinals host the New England Patriots on Sunday, September 19, will also recognize other Arizonans who have sacrificed their lives in the service of their country.

In other news, the Tillman family announced developments concerning the Pat Tillman Foundation, a private foundation created in Pat's memory. The Pat Tillman Foundation seeks to carry forward his legacy by inspiring and supporting others striving to promote positive change in themselves and the world around them.

"We have created this Foundation to honor Pat's memory and carry forward his legacy," says Marie Tillman, Pat's wife and Chairman of the Board. "Our goal is to inspire and support others that live their lives with a similar spirit and strive for positive change. Like Pat, the Foundation bearing his name is deliberate in developing planned courses of action and will focus its initial efforts on educating America's next generation of leaders with the ethical foundation and critical-thinking skills they need to drive positive change in themselves and their communities."

In addition to Marie, the Foundation's Board of Directors also includes Pat’s brother, Kevin. The foundation will initially partner with notable thought-leaders to develop activities and curricula for collegiate and professional athletes to deliver in junior high schools and high schools around the country.

"Equipping student athletes and professional athletes to deliver a positive message; giving them the tools to help kids make positive changes in themselves and those around them...that's something Pat believed in," says Marie Tillman.

The Foundation is currently identifying local and regional educational institutions to partner with during the first two years of operations with a broader national roll out plan expected by 2006.

Pat's family and Foundation express deep appreciation for the love and support so generously given since Pat's death. "With the continued support from so many people, we will carry forward Pat's legacy by inspiring and supporting those who make positive changes in themselves and their surrounding communities," said Alex Garwood, brother-in-law and Executive Director of the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Have any of you seen this book "Fields of honor" by Jonathan Rand? A friend of mine bought it. What a scam! There is not one interview, direct quote, etc. The whole book is stuff that was reported in print media already. I think this guy is way worse than any ebay seller.
