Of the Cardinals UFA who do you want back?

Mike Iupati G 32
Phil Dawson K 44
Deone Bucannon ILB 27
Tre Boston FS 27
Benson Mayowa DE 28
Markus Golden DE 28
John Phillips TE 32
Joe Barksdale RT 30
Gerald Hodges ILB 28
Derrick Coleman FB 28
Oday Aboushi G 28
Rodney Gunter DT 27
Zach Moore DE 28
J.J. Nelson WR 27

If I was to rank them it would be:
1) Rodney Gunter
2) Joe Barksdale
3) Markus Golden
4) Deone Bucannon

The rest can walk, although I wouldn't be opposed to Hodges, Moore or Mayowa coming back and competing in camp.

Depends on the price. Boston is mean and we don't have enough mean guys. Mayowa showed flashes. Golden I am a fan of. Barksdale is probably serviceable. Gunter is a solid role player. Bucannon depends on other options and what tampa bay offers him in FA.

I think Boston doesn't have a role with Swearinger being brought in (and I think Swearinger is actually "meaner"), I think Gunter is a better player than Nkemdiche and more reliable for sure--he played well last season, Golden was a non factor last year and the 4 games he played before getting hurt the season prior but he had that 1 good season and there is the hope he can return to close to that--I don't think he will have as much demand as he envisions, I think Barksdale is an average NFL RT and can be a good option for a year or 2 until we develop young OT's to take over.

None of them are make it or break it FA's though, the team can move on but I think keeping some of the veterans for depth is important.

As I typed it, I thought to myself did we add a safety? Swearinger does replace him, youre right.

I'm with you. None of them are a big deal and I would take back everyone I listed but only if it was a reasonable salary, otherwise they aren't worth it.

Gunter and Barksdale( experienced depth) for sure. The rest all depends on how our current players fit the new system and our plans in the draft. If we draft Bosa or Allen then Golden only stays with a HUGE hometown discount. Buchanon seems to be well liked and I can see him as the money backer in VJ’s system. However he needs to be reasonable in salary demands because there are other options out there.

Tampa is staying with a 4-3, so I don't see a serious need for Bucannon there.

Deone Bucannon ILB 27
Yes. if the price is right and given that we are returning to a 3-4

Benson Mayowa DE 28
Yes. Inexpensive and good add to D-end rotation.

Markus Golden DE 28
Yes. But, I imagine they'll tell him to test the market. If Bosa is our choice on draft day, he and Reed can fill the 3-4 role at OLB.

John Phillips TE 32
Yes. Cheap backup. Let training camp decide.

Joe Barksdale RT 30
Yes. Good in pass pro.

Gerald Hodges ILB 28
Yes. cheap backup and plays special teams. Again, let it be a camp decision.

Rodney Gunter DT 27
Yes. Versatile D-end and backup NT.

Zach Moore DE 28
Yes. Cheap backup D-end. Again, let it be a camp decision.

Only BUC, GOLDEN, BARKSDALE and GUNTER would be true commitments. The others are simply part of the 90 at camp who can play themselves onto the roster.

Golden is the only one I would consider but he will probably be overpriced. So I'm not concerned about re-signing any of the Cards UFA.

Given that I don't have one - sure!

That said: Mathieu makes more sense to them.

Is this that they shop for him or they sign him?

We agree Mathieu should be there so we will go Bucannon only.

Of these I would like to see them resign:

Joe Barksdale RT 30
Rodney Gunter DT 27

At worse Barksdale becomes a quality backup tackle and Gunter is a rotating starter.

These guys I wouldn't mind seeing coming back to camp for the right price and being part of the 90 camp bodies. They may not make the final 53 but they are decent players who may add depth. I don't see Golden coming back unless he gets no interest on the open market.

Benson Mayowa DE 28
Markus Golden DE 28
Gerald Hodges ILB 28
Zach Moore DE 28
