For the 1st time in my life I went to Laughlin..drove up from Flagstaff (am here until the weekend)..Did not have time to drive to Vegas - was stuck with Laughlin.. They obviously do not give odds out over the phone..so I went to every Casino in town (there is a river walk where you can hit all of them but a couple)..
Anyway..the reason for the post is that the Cardinals are slowing moving up according to the oddsmakers.. The sheet I picked up was done yesterday (date on top) and it said cardinals 200 - 1 to win the Super Bowl. Shockingly, cowboys are 40 - 1 odds to win the super bowl! Anyway - the line was 175 - 1 if you actually wanted to bet (and the 2nd best place in town was giving 150 - 1 odds) today. Actually, the Bengals and texans are both in the 200 to 250 range..I thought about taking the odds on the bengals..but decided not to. Their is a big dropoff after the cardinals - next are jacksonville and detroit in the 75 -1 range. Seems the dolphins at 6 to 1 and the bucs and eagles at 7 -1 are the top 3. Odds of cardinals to win NFC championship - 100 - 1. By far worst odds in NFC - lions are 35 - 1..Cowboys are 20 -1!
How many wins the season? 4.5 at one place with a bad payout...- 5 wins at another place with decent payout. the place with 4.5 odds limited this bet to $500!
Chargers game - handout sheet said 5 points - but it was down to 4 points (both predicting a chargers win) if you bet on it today..
All pretty meaningless..but it seems the Cardinals are getting a very small amount of respect from the oddsmakers..I could have waited a few weeks and gone to Vegas..but I figured if they beat san diego or do fairly well in the preseason - the 175 to 1 bet will not get better..
And no..I am not much of a gambler..I bet more on the Chargers game (picking cardinals)..Chargers seem to be really injured and the Cardinals have not very many injuries..if I win this bet - it covers all the crazy $$ I put down in superbowl and NFC champs bet.. I think the best bet is 4.5 wins..I think 5 or 6 wins should be attainable..If the cardinals look good in next couple of preseason games - 4.5 bet will be history and not available.
