Cardinals Await 2003 NFL Draft, Mini-Camp

Tempe, Arizona —- The Arizona Cardinals, armed with the
sixth overall selection and three of the top 70
choices, await the 2003 NFL Draft scheduled for
Saturday and Sunday, April 26–27.
The NFL Draft begins at 9 a.m. (MST) Saturday and
continues until the completion of the first three
rounds, then resumes at 8 a.m. (MST) on Sunday until
its conclusion. The entire draft will be televised by
ESPN.
The Cardinals' media draft headquarters will be located
in the media work room at the team’s training facility
in south Tempe. Arizona Cardinal Vice
President-Football Operations Rod Graves, Head Coach
Dave McGinnis, assistant coaches, and appropriate staff
members will be available for media interviews
following the Cards’ early-round selections and again
at other times throughout the two-day draft.
Drafted players also will be made available to the
media via conference calls.
The Cardinals own the sixth pick in the first round and
eight choices overall. Among those eight choices is one
compensatory selection, the 37th selection in the sixth
round (210th overall).
Arizona’s compensatory sixth-round selection is the
result of the addition of cornerback Duane Starks from
Baltimore and the losses of Corey Chavous to Minnesota
and Michael Pittman to Tampa Bay last year.
After the first round, Arizona owns the fifth choice in
round two, the sixth in round three, the fifth in round
four, the sixth in round five, the fourth and 37th
(compensatory) in round six, and the sixth in round
seven.
Draft Party—Miller Lite, along with Alltel, Coke, KDUS,
and KSLX, presents the official Arizona Cardinals Draft
Party on Saturday, April 26 at Jackson’s on 3rd in
Phoenix from 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Fans will have the
opportunity to meet Cardinal players and cheerleaders,
and watch ESPN’s first-day coverage of the draft.
Raffle prizes throughout the day will include Cardinal
season tickets. Food and beverage will be available .
Admission is free.
Mini-Camp/Fan Fest—McGinnis will conduct a three-day
mini-camp of returning veterans and this year's
draftees and free agents from Friday-Sunday, May 2–4 at
the team’s training facility in south Tempe.
The Saturday morning workout will headline “Fan Fest”
at the team’s training facility. Scheduled from 8:30
a.m.–12:30 p.m., the festivities include a Cardinals
Kids’ Clinic, inflatable games, player autograph
session, cheerleader autographs, concessions, and
mascot Big Red.

selection in the first round, 10 minutes in the second
round, and five minutes per round thereafter. The seven
rounds will consist of a total of 262 players,
including 32 compensatory picks. In 2002, the first
round consumed five hours and 48 minutes, the second
three hours and 15 minutes, the third one hour and 30
minutes.
Media Services
• Live draft coverage by ESPN from 9 a.m. Saturday and
8 a.m. Sunday until its conclusion. The broadcast will
be shown on television at the Cardinals’ media
headquarters in the media workroom.
• Interviews with Vice President of Football Operations
Rod Graves, Head Coach Dave McGinnis, and appropriate
staff members, along with conference telephone
interviews with the Cardinals’ draft choices.
• Ample telephone lines will be available both days to
the media.
