The Vancouver Canucks had the best odds of winning the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

The lottery, though, sent them down to the No. 3 slot. They'll have to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks pick in front of them before getting to choose someone they hope will be a future star.

More and more Canucks fans are getting on the Ivar Stenberg bandwagon.

The winger from Sweden is currently playing at the IIHF World Championships, and he scored an astounding goal on Tuesday.

Look at this stop and change of direction before the pinpoint shot:

Stenberg is viewed by some as an alternative to Gavin McKenna for the first overall pick, but others have him just a notch down from that.

Clearly, only one team will get McKenna, who on most boards is viewed as the top prospect.

There are a few quality defensemen near the top of the draft, as well Caleb Malhotra, who is the son of the Canucks' AHL head coach. So a pick of Stenberg at No. 3 wouldn't be a sure thing even if he's available.

But it's clear to see why Stenberg has some people very excited. Certain traits are rare, and in that goal highlight, Stenberg showed he has some of what it could take to succeed in a big way at the NHL level.

Vancouver is surely paying attention, but only on draft night will Canucks fans learn what the front office is truly thinking.
