Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky continues insane Olympics stats for Slovakia originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Juraj Slafkovsky took the hockey world by storm at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
With no NHL players allowed, the then-17-year-old Slafkovsky scored seven goals in seven games as Slovakia made a run to the bronze medal.
He was the No. 1 overall pick in the ensuing 2022 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, and now he's back in the Olympics as an NHL standout in the return of the best-on-best format at the 2026 Games.
And also: Slafkovsky hasn't cooled down. He's apparently Mr. Olympics.

Slovakia, with seven NHL players on its roster, was playing potent Finland on Wednesday in the opening game of the men's hockey tournament at these Olympics.
Slafkovsky proved that Slovakia wouldn't settle for being an underdog. Off a turnover, he slotted in the game's first goal midway through the first period.
Make it eight goals for Slafkovsky in eight career games at the Olympics.
Never bet against Olympic Juraj Slafkovsky.

Slafkovsky is having a big season for Montreal, too. He's got 21 goals and 24 assists through 57 games before the break.
Clearly, he's in top form, but apparently that should've never been in question. At the Olympics, no one is stopping Slafkovsky from scoring.
