After multiple rounds of voting, readers have spoken.
Canadian cross country runner Joseph Dominguez is the 2025-26 Happy State Bank Boys High School Athlete of the Year.
Dominguez received a staggering 13,888 votes of the 35,909 that were cast by readers, making up 38.7% of all votes received.
Amarillo High boys track standout Landon Barker was second with 8,833 votes and Dimmitt baseball's Ga'Quorie Chatham was third with 7,960 votes.
Dominguez won the Class 3A race at the Lubbock Invitational cross country meet, finishing the 5K in 16:30.3 winning the race by nearly half a minute when he won Athlete of the Week in October.
Weekly voting lasted throughout the school year and produced 35 Athletes of the Week. Voting was broken down over multiple weeks beginning June 1 and will run Monday through Thursday each week, alternating weeks between boys finalists and girls finalists.
The final round of the Happy State Bank girls high school athlete of the year will begin Monday, July 6.
