After being held without a medal in Beijing, Canada's Olympic figure skating team is seeking a return to the podium in Milan Cortina.
Historically, the Canadians have ranked among the world's best skaters. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are the most-decorated skaters in Olympic history, claiming five medals (three golds, two silvers) across their glittering career. They're two of five skaters to collect three golden medallions across their Olympic careers.
But eight years after their retirement, the Canadians have struggled to find a replacement for their consistency. The 2022 Games were a barren run for the red-and-white, with a Canadian failing to finish in a podium place for the first time since 1980.
They'll look for a better showing this time around. Madeline Schizas, Stephen Gogolev, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier lead a talented 12-person unit that looks well-equipped to compete with the likes of Team USA and Team Japan for supremacy on the tilt.
