The Olympic men’s hockey tournament is generating some great excitement. One reason for that is Canada’s number one line. The three top Olympians in National Hockey League scoring are all on Team Canada, and played together against Switzerland on Friday.
Canada’s exciting number one line consists of Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia and San Jose Sharks centre Macklin Celebrini.

We are seeing an incredible combination of amazing speed from McDavid and Celebrini, and terrific power from MacKinnon. In Canada’s win over Switzerland, McDavid led Canada in scoring with three points.
McDavid opened the scoring with his first ever Olympic goal. That was followed by assists on goals by Thomas Harley and MacKinnon. There was also great excitement in the second period as MacKinnon set up Celebrini.

McDavid leads the NHL in scoring with 96 points. MacKinnon leads the NHL with 40 goals, and McDavid is tied for the NHL lead in assists with 62. McDavid has 96 points, MacKinnon has 93 points and Celebrini is fourth in the NHL with 81 points.
Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning is third in the NHL in scoring with 91 points. However, he is not an Olympian because Russia is not part of the Olympic hockey program due to the war in Ukraine. Kucherov is also tied with McDavid in assists with 62.
The Canadians have France next to finish Group A. Canada has already clinched first place in the group, and are now focused on getting the number one seed heading into the medal round. Canada is a +9 after two games, while the 2-0 United States are at a +7.
