Benin can breathe a sigh of relief for Andréas Hountondji just three weeks before the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Injured against Bayern Munich on November 29, Andréas Hountondji underwent medical tests in the past few hours. The tests revealed a minor muscle injury to his thigh. The Benin Cheetah will miss Tuesday's match, but his absence should not be prolonged. A huge sigh of relief just three weeks ahead of CAN 2025.

Having found the net as early as the 6th minute in this 12th matchday of the Bundesliga, Hountondji was unable to continue a game that ultimately ended in a 3–1 defeat, as he was hampered by a hamstring issue. His coach, Alexander Blessin, explained at the time that an MRI was necessary to determine the severity of the injury.

Now, the results are in: the player is suffering from a minor muscle strain. While he is ruled out for Tuesday's clash with Mönchengladbach, a comeback as soon as Sunday's trip to Cologne remains a realistic possibility.
