Where in Pete's quote do you see him using that as an "excuse"?????

It was simply an honest, accurate comment, to me.

To me...first the signing of Grutts in 2000 then Pete in 2001 is what marked the beginning of the turnaround in Card's management in trying to insure the team didn't "suck" so much as in the past.

I also suspect that maybe you've never performed much in front of people in any way.
Anyone who has can tell you that the bigger the crowd the more it tends to get the adrenalin going, thats just basic human nature.

To catagorize Pete Kendall as a player who wasn't self motivated and blaming "lack of crowd" for his "failure to get motivated"....is just way, way, way off base IMO.

You hear it all the time from the players, past and present, and people in the media comment on the empty stadiums in Phoenix too. If it doesn't matter to the players, then why do they keep bringing it up? Like it is some excuse?

It's a Catch 22. It's easier to win with a home field advantage and it's "easier" to go to a game if you think they're going to win.

The fans in Arizona have not done their part, at all, and for the most part the people who sit on the sidelines and complain about how crappy this football team is have absolutely no room to talk since they don't do jack to support it.

Ugh. The people that complain about them not being on TV, yet make no effort to go to any games make me want to vomit.
Waa. Waaaaa waaa waaa.

Home football games are the entire package It takes a good team, a good coaching staff and good fan support. That's where you get W's. Look at the home and away records last year. Or any year for that matter.

I agree with you here, but Phoenix isn't Cleveland, NY, or maybe some of the other markets mentioned by Kendall. You don't see unconditional fan support for any team in this town anymore. Not even the Suns.

I think that it is pretty funny that the Cardinals played before small crowds long before Kendall came here, but that didn't seem to matter to him when he signed here.

Hey Pete Kendall-the reason the crowds are small at SDS is because YOU SUCKED. It never ceases to amaze me how these players can't understand that the reason people don't show up ...is because the product isn't good enough to get people to come. Period. Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

The FALCONS couldn't believe how small the crowd was? I attended a Falcons game in 1993 at their dome, there were 20,000 people there.

D-Backs-Suns-Coyotes season tickets require much more commitment in time (80 home games) and money (4000.00 season tickets) than the Cardinals (8 home games, great seats under 1000.00.)

When things go bad for the D-Backs-Suns-Coyotes, people cut bait quickly due to the commitment required.

The NFL is a different beast. Only 8 home games, so less commitment in time/money, so people tend to hang on longer, or never give up their season tickets for fear of being shut out.

This will happen here.

Kendall was injury prone too. He made alot of $ , not too be a 16 game, dependable guy. The Jets will find that out.

If he wasn't interested in moving to RG, that also could have been a problem and hastened his departure.

I also did'nt like the circumstances surrounding his being released, BUT I'm thinking out loud here. He is much better that Spikes, but more injury prone.

I doubt many of the players at SDS that day were on the Falcons team in 1993. So 20,000 attendence wouldn't be a "normal" occurrence for them.

One coach's (McGinnis) "team leader" is often another coach's (Green) "club house lawyer".

I suspect that one of the benefits, for Green, of the training camp controversy was that he was able to identify the "club house lawyer"... the guy who tries to manipulate things in the locker room through other players.

Kendall's departure is a lesson not lost on other team members.

In a phrase: "I'm the boss and we are going to be working to my plan; my program for success. Anyone with a problem with this basic concept can start planning on a future somewhere else."

Injury plagued, perhaps... but, frankly, "injury prone" in a "crash" sport like football or hockey... makes very little sense.
