Wheels seem to be turning in the New Orleans Saints' ongoing contract talks with Cameron Jordan. The team's all-time sacks leader is set to become a free agent on March 10 with $18.76 million staying on the books as dead money, but the Saints can save some salary cap space by signing him to a new deal. It's just a matter of bridging the gap between what the front office is willing to pay Jordan and what he feels he's earned. For his part, Jordan isn't looking to push the envelope.

"If you get a 10-sack season, if I was 26, I'd be asking for top dollar," Jordan told TMZ Sports. "Things I've never asked for is top dollar. All I've ever asked for is to be valued."

Jordan isn't 26 anymore (he's 36 going on 37 in July), but he did have 10.5 sacks last year. He's got grounds to seek top dollar from the Saints if he were so compelled, but with career earnings of over $147 million, he can afford to compromise. That he's being realistic about where he's at in his career says a lot, too. Jordan is expressing his willingness to play ball and see things through in black and gold. Let's see if the Saints feel the same way.
