Seriously........seriously.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/10/13/qbs/index.html

According to the New York Times, Jets linebacker Calvin Pace had this to say about the Dolphins offense upon returning to the team from his four-game, season-opening league suspension:

"Against a second-year clown quarterback, we didn't affect him enough,'' Pace was quoted as saying. "I guess you have to give him credit. The defense lost the game today.''

So you're giving the "clown quarterback'' begrudging credit, but making it clear that he didn't win the game for Miami, the Jets defense just lost it? Faint praise, indeed.

We can also count Pace among those who aren't big on the Wildcat. "I can't respect that stuff, all that Wildcat,'' said Pace, according to the Times. "We're in the NFL. Don't come here with that nonsense.''

There's some nonsense involved here, Calvin. But it doesn't have much to do with the Dolphins offense

Coming from Mr. "I fell out a window" himself.

He sucks both as a player and as a person. Still embarrassing that we thought him and BJ were more valuable than Suggs who had just put together arguably one of the best collegiate careers as a pass rusher.

I know, I'm beating a dead horse but that draft day still haunts me

their coach wasn't that much better running down henne after the game - pretty much saying they made that guy look like dan marino during the game

here's hoping that whatever clown QB the dolphins line up against the jets they look like marino as long as the jets continue to employ clowns of their own

You & me both.

At least with the AP situation we filled a need.

The trade down that cost us Suggs was pathetic. Suggs was a need, and a top player at that slot. Instead we traded down and got absolutely nothing.

LOL, they got their ass kicked by the Wildcat, and he turns around and implies it's nonsense that has no business in the NFL. Hmm...

Hey, this is the NFL, stop with all those forward passes nonsense. Hey, this is the NBA, stop with all that slam dunking nonsense (lew alcindor).

Because something whips your ass doesn't make it nonsense. They have grooved that set to perfection, and have the perfect people to run it. Maybe the J-E-T-S should have watched more T-A-P-E tapetapetape.

I am developing a theory. You only use the wildcat if your QB is garbage.

Hey Rugby, can you please describe "fill a need."?

Wouldn't "fill a need" be described as picking a player who proves to be an asset?

To date, Levi Brown has not "filled a need" in my book. While he is playing the position, that does not qualify as filling a need. Supposedly he is a good run blocking tackle. A lot of good that is doing us.

To me, Levi was worse. We had no plan at OT, except to hope that Joe Thomas would fall. That's not a plan. Then, when an all-world RB is available (at a position of need, sorry Edge), we can't take him.

And with the Suggs debacle came Anquan Boldin. We had swapped seconds in that trade, and who knows if we might have taken a different receiver (maybe even Johnson would have fallen to the second round) with a higher second round pick.

I wish that were the case.

Yes, that was poorly written. I mean to say, at least when we screwed up on that pick there was a reason behind the screw up. We needed a OT, and reached for one.

The trade down Suggs situation was a complete debacle.

Boldin's my favorite AZ sports athlete but I'd take a premier pass rusher over a WR anyday.

That trade was downright awful

I might be the only one, but several times during last Sunday's game I found myself wishing that Pace was still here.

I wonder if Calvin thinks the Jets fake punt was also nonsense. Favre last year and now Calvin, Braylon, Jones, Rex Ryan and others sure make it easy to hate the Jets.

There was a time when I actually liked the Jets. With their blowhard Coach, I am really beginning to dislike them in the same manner I dislike the Cowpukes.

I'd trade Haggans and Berry and a late round draft pick for him right now.

Heck I'd even throw in Levi.

EDIT: OMG how good would we be if we had Leonard Davis at Right Guard and Calvin Pace at OLB? Not only would there be less talk about a SB hangover but I'd bet we'd be a favorite to win the NFC again.

Stupid salary cap.

IMO ?

About as good as we are now.

I don't see where Calvin Pace has become a dominant OLB, and I really don't see how he is a pass rusher specialist like we needed. Pace has some skill and is young but I don't see what he would bring to our defense that Haggans doesn't.

As for Davis ? Who knows. It is not like the Horse Whisper's team is lighting up the NFL. But at least with Davis, I would be interested in seeing him at RG and see if that would have helped our run game.

Regardless, as you said the salary cap would have not let this happen between the 23 guaranteed to Pace, and the 50 million dollar contract Davis got from the Cowboys.

I wouldn't have paid either guy that amount.

We'd probably still have Davis getting abused at LT if we had him...

Rugby, on another topic, I see you are still right on the 53-Man roster thread, even including picking Dykes back up. Thanks, man - I heard it from you first.

I don't see Haggans bringing much of anything to our pass defense. IMO even with his limits as a pass rusher Pace would be an improvement over both Haggans and Berry and likely even Okeafor in that area.

As for Davis ? Who knows. It is not like the Horse Whisper's team is lighting up the NFL. But at least with Davis, I would be interested in seeing him at RG and see if that would have helped our run game.

Davis' team might not be but he is. The guy is simply abusing people from the Guard position. He would be a huge upgrade from Latui and Duece is one of my favorite players. Green was an idiot to put LD out at LT. But there again it was all about money.
