One day after grabbing headlines despite failing to suit up, Caitlin Clark returned to the spotlight in a major way.

The Fever guard was a surprise absence for Indiana's clash with the Fire on Thursday night. She missed the contest despite not being named on Wednesday's injury report, prompting the WNBA to issue Indiana a warning in regards to proper injury report designations.

Clark took to the floor on Friday, joining the Fever for their joust with the Valkyries. Things got negative throughout the contest, with Clark getting caught up in a trio of eye-catching incidents.

Caitlin Clark technical vs Valkyries

Clark got into a brief skirmish upon her return to the floor on Friday, locking horns with Valkyries forward Janelle Salaun at the end of the first half. Clark and Salaun made contact as Clark found Lexie Hull with a wraparound pass before the period ended. Hull's subsequent effort missed its target, with Salaun fielding the rebound.

Clark, seemingly discontented with Salaun's antics, swiped at the ball after the horn blared. She then pushed Salaun, sparking a slight kerfuffle. The two had to be separated, with the refereeing crew assessing Clark and Salaun matching technicals.

In the middle of the third quarter, Clark aded to her exploits, canning a pull-up triple from the logo. As the ball swayed through the hoop, Clark jawed with the nearest defender she could find: Tiffany Hayes.

Predictably, Hayes also had choice words for the Iowa product. Indiana's Myisha Hines-Allen and Golden State's Kayla Thornton got between the duo before things got more animated.

Her jump shot looked smooth, too -- Clark's logo triple was the pick of the bunch, but she sank four triples on the night.
