Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was effective in her third game for USA Basketball.

The Indiana Fever star, playing in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, went 4 of 5 from the field for 12 points along with five assists. She finished with a team-high plus-minus of 27.

She did not start the game, but her 22 minutes were the second most on Team USA behind Paige Bueckers' 23.

The USA Basketball coaching staff, now led by Phoenix Mercury coach Nate Tibbetts after coach Kara Lawson returned to her duties at Duke, took a new approach to rotations in its third game of the tournament.

The first two games of Lawson's "fact-finding mission" consisted of pre-determined rotations and five-in, five-out hockey-style changes at each quarter's under-5 media timeout. Everyone on the 12-player roster got minutes in the first two games.

The first half of Saturday's game was managed more similarly to an actual rotation. The starting lineup — which consisted of Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper, Rhyne Howard and Dearica Hamby — got the majority of the minutes. Tibbetts managed the first game with a normal rotation, and Clark was the first one off the bench and came in solo for Howard.

Clark scored immediately off a give-and-go, receiving a pass and beating her defender down the right side of the lane for a layup. She later showed off her range with a deep 3-pointer.

Tibbetts returned to the hockey-style lineup change in the third quarter, as Clark entered the game with Kelsey Plum, Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese and Monique Billings. Clark played the entire fourth quarter with Plum and Bueckers, while Kiki Iriafen and Rae Burrell joined the frontcourt.

Clark later had a steal in the fourth quarter during one such lineup change. She threaded a perfect fastbreak bounce pass that led to a layup, and was too strong on another intended for Bueckers in which Clark gestured it was her fault.

Team USA will play again on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., taking on New Zealand.
