Caitlin Clark’s Confident Claim Goes Viral After Fever Star Draws Technical Foul In Referee Incident

In the third quarter of Saturday’s Fever-Sky game, Caitlin Clark picked up her eighth technical foul of the season after bumping into referee Genesis Perrymond on the baseline. Per league rules, a player who incurs eight technical fouls in a season gets handed an automatic one-game suspension.

Clark, however, sounded confident that the league office would rule in her favor after Fever GM Amber Cox promptly filed an appeal. When CC spoke with reporter Holly Rowe after Indiana’s 90-86 win, she expressed her confidence that things would go her way.

“I’m hoping it’s getting rescinded, Holly. I’ll see you on Tuesday.”

In this interview, which has gone viral, Clark offered some more context for the sequence between her and Perrymond.

“She said I ran into her. I’ve already watched it on the tape, so we’ll let the league decide. It wasn’t intentional or anything.”

With a little over a minute in the third quarter, Sky guard Natasha Cloud denied Clark a drive down the middle, influencing the three-time WNBA All-Star to go baseline. CC did so, and as Cloud continued to limit her space, she got rid of the ball right before she stepped out of bounds.

Clark’s eyes were on ensuring an accurate pass to Myisha Hines-Allen, and she did not anticipate that she’d be colliding with Perrymond, who was on the baseline. Nevertheless, some physical contact was made with the ref, who halted the action and whistled a technical foul on Clark.

Earlier this season, the Fever has attempted to get a tech lifted for their court general. Both times, their appeal was denied.

Report: League Office Rescinds Caitlin Clark’s Technical Foul vs. Sky​

It appears, however, that the third time is the charm.

According to reports, the league has decided to rescind the technical foul called against Caitlin Clark in the Fever-Sky game. This indicates that Clark won’t be serving an automatic one-game suspension.


If true, Clark’s words to Rowe at the end of the Fever-Sky game would turn out to be prophetic.
