STATESBORO, Ga. — Bishop Walsh graduate Danny Reed announced last Wednesday that he is joining Westwood One Radio.
Reed spent 11 years as the radio play-by-play voice for Georgia Southern football, men's basketball and baseball.
"For the past 11 years, telling the story of Georgia Southern Athletics has been one of the great personal and professional honors of my life, Reed said in a press release. "Not everyone can be an Eagle, but those that have shown the grit, toughness and discipline to do so will always hold a distinct place in my heart."
He called Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games at the Division I women's basketball tournament for Westwood One in March.
Reed will broadcast a national college football game of the week, along with increased presence calling major men's college basketball.
He will call the first weekend of March Madness in the men's tournament and will announce the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 in the women's bracket.
He previously announced minor league baseball games for the Bowling Green Hot Rods and Charleston RiverDogs.
His previous experience also includes Division I schools Charleston Southern and The Citadel.
Reed got his start at WCBC in Cumberland calling Dapper Dan baseball games.
Reed graduated from Bishop Walsh in 2003, then graduated from Waynesburg University and called women’s basketball, baseball and high school football for Waynesburg’s flagship station WCYJ-FM.
