Butler freshman starting point guard Azavier Robinson is without a timeline to return after a wrist injury, coach Thad Matta told IndyStar on Wednesday night.
Robinson, who averages 6.1 points and 1.9 rebounds, injured his left wrist in the second half Saturday against Georgetown, but played through the game. Postgame evaluations, however, revealed Robinson would need to miss time.
“We don’t,” Matta said when asked if Robinson had a return timeline. “I don't know. He's gonna see another doctor tomorrow, and you know, hopefully we can get him back. We need him.”
Efeosa Oliogu-Elabor took Robinson’s spot in the lineup, splitting his time on the court with Yohan Traore. Oliogu-Elabor ended up playing 24 minutes before fouling out in the first overtime.
Oliogu-Elabor has been finding his spot in the Bulldogs' rotation recently, as he scored seven points against Georgetown on Saturday (his first points since Jan. 14) and seven points against Providence.
“He's getting better,” Matta said of Oliogu-Elabor. “That six-week stretch at the beginning of the year, that was tough for him as a freshman. And I think he's getting better and better, more comfortable with what he's doing, and we'll need him to continue to play well and continue to get better."
