The transfer portal train keeps on chugging along for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, as they added safety Randon Fontenette from Vanderbilt to The Herd on Sunday.

Fontenette comes to Boulder with experience as an elite SEC safety during his two years with the Commodores. After transferring from TCU following the 2023 season, where he played in all 12 games with the Horned Frogs and tallied 16 total tackles, Fontenette broke out onto the scene paired with new Vandy head coach Clark Lea. In his two seasons in Nashville, Fontenette played in all 25 of the Commodores’ games, totaling 124 tackles, 13 pass deflections, one forced fumble, one interception and a touchdown. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

The addition of Fontenette is massive to Sanders and the Buffs. After losing both starting safeties from last season in Carter Stoutmire and Tawfiq Byard, Fontenette is a phenomenal base-block to build a defensive backfield around. If Fontenette could ball out in the SEC, just imagine the numbers he’ll put up in the Big 12.

Welcome to Boulder, Randon!
