The Buffalo Bills are expected to have tight end Dalton Kincaid on their roster for at least the next two seasons.

Buried in general manager Brandon Beane's active end-of-season press conference was a note on the tight end. Beane and the Bills must decide this offseason whether or not they will pick up the fifth-year option on Kincaid's rookie contract.

It was nearly all but a "yes" answer from the GM.

"I don’t see any reason why the Bills would not pick that up," Beane said.

Brandon Beane says the plan with Dalton Kincaid is not to have any surgery.

Fifth-year options apply only to first-round picks such as Kincaid.

A team has the option to add that fifth season onto a player's rookie contract but must do so before a deadline before the player's fourth contracted year. That means Kincaid is already signed through the 2026 season, but that will extent to 2027 with the option.

That noted deadline is May 1 this offseason but it appears the decision in Buffalo has already been made on Kincaid, the Bills' 2023 first-round selection.

The caveat is that a player will see a hefty pay raise. The amount varies by position and Over The Cap projects Kincaid's pay day to jump to $8.989 million with a salary cap hit of $13.4M in 2027. Kincaid upcoming cap hit in 2026 is only $4.2M.

Bills Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.
