The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just completed one of the better drafts of 2025.
The Bucs return all 11 starters from one of the top offenses last season and general manager Jason Licht was predicted to focus on adding to the defense through the draft, which they did.
But Licht shocked many by selecting Ohio State wideout Emeka Egbuka with the No. 19 overall pick, indicating his willingness to take the best player on their board over a specific position need.
And at least one former Tampa Bay Super Bowl champion believes it was the right move.
Former Buccaneers safety and Super Bowl XXXVII champion Dexter Jackson recently spoke with Ben Mendelowitz with Roto Grinders and noted that Egbuka should fit right in with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.
"With the talent that he has combined with the ability to learn from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the sky is the limit for him. In just one year, he’ll be able to grow so much by learning from those guys," Jackson said. "With the way offenses are ran now in the NFL, they want to put up points in these 3-WR and 4-WR sets. They want to throw the football and spread it around, so Tampa Bay is a perfect fit for Egbuka.
"When you look at Ohio State’s track record with wide receivers in the last few years, it makes you think that Egbuka could be a phenomenal player for a really long time," Jackson added.
Egbuka's 205 career receptions for the Buckeyes is an Ohio State career mark and his 2,868 receiving yards rank second behind only Michael Jenkins, who posted 2,898.
The former Buckeyes wideout already has ties to the Tampa Bay franchise as receivers coach Brian McClendon recruited Egbuka in high school and he played 7-on-7 high school ball against last season's third-round pick, Jalen McMillan.
