Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports recently released his list of the NFL's 100 most important players entering the 2026 season, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Tristan Wirfs earned a spot at No. 53 overall.

Pereles highlighted Wirfs as one of the league's premier blind-side protectors, noting that his impact extends beyond pass protection and into the running game as well. Over the past several seasons, Wirfs has established himself as a foundational piece of Tampa Bay's offense and one of the NFL's top offensive tackles.

The recognition comes after a 2025 season in which injuries affected multiple members of the Buccaneers' offensive line. Wirfs himself appeared in 12 games, but his importance to the unit remained evident whenever he was on the field.

As Tampa Bay enters a new season without longtime receiver Mike Evans, maintaining stability up front becomes even more important. The Buccaneers will once again rely on Wirfs to anchor an offensive line tasked with protecting quarterback Baker Mayfield and helping create opportunities in the run game.

While skill-position players often receive the majority of the attention, CBS Sports' ranking serves as a reminder of just how valuable elite offensive linemen can be. For Tampa Bay, few players are more important to the team's success in 2026 than the All-Pro left tackle protecting the edge.
