Before he was a head coach, John Harbaugh made his reputation coaching special teams. Consequently, the Ravens always have excelled in that phase of the game.

It stands to reason the Bucs would look to the organization to find help in that area.

On Thursday, they conducted a virtual interview with Ravens assistant special teams coach Anthony Levine Sr.

Levine is the fourth candidate to interview for the position, which opened when the Bucs fired special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey after two seasons.

Not surprisingly, the Ravens excelled on special teams again in 2025.

They ranked first in net punting with a 44.9-yard average and third in gross punting average at 50.1 yards. More importantly, they were ninth in kickoff return average against at 25.2.

Levine knows the Ravens’ way because he played 10 seasons under Harbaugh in Baltimore as a safety and special teams ace. He finished his career as the Ravens’ all-time leader in kick-coverage tackles.

Prior to joining the Ravens last season, Levine worked for two seasons (2023-24) as the Titans’ assistant special teams coach.

The Bucs were hurt by poor special teams play last season. They had two punts and two field goals blocked, including one returned for a touchdown by the Jets. The kick return units also weren’t good.

Levine joins Lions assistant special teams coach Jett Modkins, Dolphins special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman and Bucs assistant special teams coach Keith Tandy as candidates to have interviewed for the position.
