Jenna Laine of ESPN highlighted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ division-heavy finish to the 2026 season as one of the biggest takeaways from the team’s newly released schedule.
The Buccaneers will close the year by playing their NFC South division rivals in six of the last seven games of the 2026 NFL season, creating a stretch in which the division race could remain unsettled deep into December and January.
That type of schedule is great for television and tends to raise the pressure level to the maximum. Divisional opponents already know each other well, and late-season matchups often carry playoff implications, tiebreaker scenarios, and added familiarity from earlier meetings.
The timing also matters because the NFC South appears more competitive entering 2026. The Carolina Panthers continue building around younger talent, the Atlanta Falcons still have offensive firepower, and the New Orleans Saints remain capable of creating difficult divisional matchups.
For Tampa Bay, the schedule leaves little margin for error if the Buccaneers want to remain in control of the NFC South race late in the season.
