Right now, all the attention is going to Dexter Lawrence at Cincinnati Bengals training camp.

Deservingly so, too, as Lawrence continues to live up to his game-wrecking reputation by disrupting one of the best quarterbacks and overall offenses in the NFL.

But Joe Burrow? He’s plenty worried about Bryan Cook, too.

Cook, the team’s big free-agency signing at safety and the latest stab at fixing the Jessie Bates mistake, looks to be putting concerns about the position to bed for good.

That includes multiple interceptions, with a pick-six of Burrow that ended 11-on-11 work, as captured by WCPO’s Caleb Noe:

It’s a swing that is even going public in the form of locker room banter as Cook goes after guys like Ja’Marr Chase, as captured by Sports Illustrated's Jay Morrison:

Talk about a welcome change for the Bengals, even if it makes fans wince to see Burrow struggling.

The struggling, at least in part, is by design. The Bengals offense keeps looping in more under-center looks to improve overall. It was always going to be a slow start.

There’s a balance, though. The defense is much improved. It also clearly has the veteran leadership that has been missing. But the offense should swing things back to more balanced exchanges, too.

Overall? Everyone should improve as a result.
