When a trade gets close, it often brings out other teams for last-minute offers.
The Boston Bruins appear to be doing just that with the Vancouver Canucks and Conor Garland.
Earlier reports indicated the New York Islanders were close to landing Garland, but it's not a done deal yet, and the Bruins are in now, too.
The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reported that the Bruins have "reengaged" on a possible deal for Garland as of Tuesday night.

The NHL trade deadline is Friday afternoon, so there are less than three days for this to play itself out.
Garland under contract for $6 million per year through the 2031-32 season, so this would be much more than a rental whether the Bruins or Islanders end up getting the trade done.
"Garland signed a six-year extension with the Canucks last summer, but he has since seen the team pivot to a rebuild," The Athletic's Chris Johnston wrote earlier this week. "He is a strong skater who is unafraid to skate through opponents despite his diminutive size. More of a playmaker than a goal-scorer, he’s an excellent complementary piece who can be counted on to produce at a 50-point pace. Teams are interested in the player, but moving this kind of contract might be better tackled in the offseason."
Boston and the Islanders both have potentially bright futures, and Garland could fit that timeline.
He'd also be a nice upgrade for this season.
At this point, it'd be surprising to see Vancouver keep Garland, because the interest leaguewide seems to be quite high. It's just a matter of where he ends up.
