After using their first selection in the draft on a goaltender and the next two on sub-six-foot skaters, the Bruins finally added some size with the selection of the 6-foot-4 forward.
At just 18 years old, Olsson is already weighing in at nearly 200 pounds. He played 32 games in the Swedish U20 Nationell League, scoring 14 goals and recording 16 assists.
The Athletic's Scott Wheeler believes Olsson is a hard-to-gauge prospect who just missed out on his top 100 rankings.
"Olsson will be an interesting case study in this class. He was a point per game player at the J20 level this year and scored a handful of pretty goals, showing some real finesse and talent for a 6-foot-4 winger," Wheeler wrote. "While his skating looks a little awkward (he’s comfortable riding his edges and turning, but it’s more on the straight line pick-up), I saw him out in transition enough this year not to worry about it as well. He’s also willing to put his nose down and go to the dirty areas and then has a pro-quality shot when he’s able to pop open into the slot and get open for his linemates or attack off a faceoff."
Wheeler went on to say that, while Olsson isn't as skilled as some of the other prospects in Sweden's pool, he has a unique combination of skill and size that will surely attract scouts.
