The Boston Bruins had a busy Friday night. While preparing for the 2026 NHL Draft, they executed a trade to acquire Utah Mammoth winger JJ Peterka and hired a former general manager to join their front office.
The general manager in question is none other than Kevyn Adams.
Adams was fired just last season by the Buffalo Sabres. The team Adams built would go on to beat the Bruins in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after earning the franchise's first playoff appearance in 16 years.
A true psychotically-informed Bruins super fan may recognize the name Kevyn Adams. That is because, as Lauren Campbell of MassLive pointed out, Adams is a former first-round draftee of the Bruins.
"On June 26, 1993, the Bruins drafted Kevyn Adams in the first round of the NHL Draft," Campbell wrote. "On June 26, 2026, the Bruins added Adams to their front office."
It is also worth noting that Adams got to know the recently acquired Peterka during his time in Buffalo. Peterka was a Sabres draft pick in 2020.
Eliotte Friedman was first to report the hiring.
"I understand that the former GM of the Sabres, Kevyn Adams, is joining the front office," Friedman said during SportsNet's live coverage of the 2026 NHL Draft. "So there is some insight into Peterka there specifically."
