The Dallas Cowboys were busy during the 2026 NFL Draft.

In addition to drafting seven players, the Cowboys worked behind the scenes to execute as many beneficial trades as possible. Notably, the five-time Super Bowl champions sent the No. 20 overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the No. 23 overall and two fourth-round picks (No. 114 and No. 137) on the first night of the event.

However, before becoming trade partners with Philadelphia, they attempted to complete a deal with the Cleveland Browns. Of course, the Browns weren’t interested in Dallas’ blockbuster trade offer.

“When the Browns were on the clock at Pick 9 in this year’s NFL Draft, the Cowboys offered picks 12 and 20 and a fifth-rounder for Picks 9 and 24,” The Athletic’s Jon Machota wrote on X/Twitter Sunday. “Cleveland was not interested.”

Obviously, the Browns felt compelled to retain their two first-round picks upon receiving the Cowboys’ enticing trade offer. Cleveland used those two selections to draft offensive tackle Spencer Fano (No. 9 overall pick) and Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion (No. 24 overall pick).

From the Cowboys’ vantage point, they made out just fine in the draft, landing a generational safety in Caleb Downs with the No. 11 overall pick and a high-upside edge rusher in Malachi Lawrence.

Essentially, it appears as though the Browns and Cowboys are in good shape heading into the next phase of the offseason.
