He spent a year on the transplant list waiting for a liver. Kosar was initially scheduled for a transplant last week, but it was delayed as the donor’s organ was infected. For the past week, Kosar has been battling for his life. He underwent five procedures to stop internal bleeding. Not only did it jeopardize his life, but it also further delayed a transplant. Kosar went into his surgery at 5 A.M. on Monday. The surgery was a success, but it’s not over yet. The first 48 hours are critical for transplant patients. It’s essential to monitor them in case of rejection or infection. The hometown hero could still use thoughts and prayers. The football world is with him every step of the way.
