JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) – In a battle between two of the top 10 teams in Div. 3, No. 4 Brooklyn Columbia Central defeated No. 7 Jackson Lumen Christi 4-0 on Monday to improve to 17-0 on the season.

The game featured a pair of great pitching performances. Columbia Central’s Hailey Wetherby, an Akron commit, tossed a complete game shutout with 13 strikeouts and Lumen Christi’s Bella Wrozek also threw the complete game with 12 strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles were clinging to a 1-0 lead until Raell Bice gave them some breathing room with a two-run double in the sixth.

The two schools were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the second game was rained out.

The Golden Eagles have outscored their opponents by a remarkable margin of 198-14 this season. They return to action on Wednesday at home against Homer.

Jackson Lumen Christi falls to 12-4-1 with the loss and will look to bounce back Tuesday at home against Bloomfield Hills Marian.
