Broncos Wire's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year tight end Caleb Lohner, No. 84.

Before the Broncos: Lohner (6-7, 250 pounds) followed the path of tight ends like Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzales, who were basketball stars before they were ever football players. In college, Lohner played basketball for BYU, Baylor and the University of Utah. While he was with the Utes, Lohner tried out the gridiron. As a tight end, Lohner only had four catches for 54 yards... and four touchdowns.

Broncos tenure: Despite his limited football experience, Lohner's size and profile was intriguing enough for the Denver Broncos to use a seventh-round selection (241st overall) on him in the 2025 NFL draft. Lohner did not make the 53-man roster as a rookie, but he was retained on the Broncos' practice squad for the entirety of the season.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. Lohner recently impressed coaches during the Broncos' 2026 rookie minicamp, where coach Sean Payton said he looks "entirely different" from last offseason. Lohner could see some extended action in the preseason, but he might be competing for a practice squad spot once again this summer. Although he faces long odds, Lohner will have an opportunity to compete for an active roster spot this summer, and he'll be an intriguing tight end to track.
