Broncos Wire's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, No. 31.
Before the Broncos: Abrams-Draine (5-11, 178 pounds) spent his college days in Columbia, Missouri from 2020-2023. Abrams-Draine played in 44 games for the Tigers, making 141 total tackles (105 solo, 36 assisted, 3.5 tackles for loss), seven interceptions, 34 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. For his efforts, Abrams-Draine was selected in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2024 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos.
Broncos tenure: Since breaking into the NFL, Abrams-Draine has played on both special teams and on defense, carving out a versatile role for himself. Abrams-Draine filled in for injured Broncos on defense since 2024, starting three games out of 22 total in two years, picking off one pass, deflecting three passes and making 39 total tackles (26 solo, 13 assisted, one tackle for loss).
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely backup cornerback. Abrams-Draine's versatility is his strength. The fact that he has also filled in admirably in the absence of Riley Moss and Pat Surtain also makes him a valuable cog in the defense, while still being an important member of the special teams unit. He should be back as a key rotational backup cornerback in 2026.
