The Denver Broncos (14-3) are sitting out the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs after securing the AFC's No. 1 seed and a first-round bye.

Next weekend, the Broncos will host the lowest advancing seed from the AFC in the divisional round. The candidates for the divisional game are the Los Angeles Chargers (No. 7), Buffalo Bills (No. 6), Houston Texans (No. 5) and Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 4). So, who should fans in Denver hope to face?

If the Chargers beat the New England Patriots (14-3), they will visit Empower Field at Mile High next weekend. The Broncos just beat L.A.'s backups in Week 18, but Denver was 0-3 in its last three games against the Chargers before that, and quarterback Bo Nix is 0-2 against L.A.'s starting defense. So a division rival might not be a favorable matchup.

The Bills beat the Broncos in the wild-card round last year, but they do not feel quite as formidable this season as they did last year. Still, you can never overlook a Josh Allen-led squad.

Denver squeaked by the Texans earlier this season, but there's no guarantee the Broncos would also win a rematch against a tough Houston defense. The Steelers, meanwhile, might be the weakest candidate from the field -- but nobody can be taken lightly in the NFL playoffs.
