The Denver Broncos' first schedule "leak" has arrived, although it's technically an announcement, not a leak.

ESPN announced Tuesday that the Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football at 6:15 p.m. MT (8:15 p.m. ET) on Sept. 14 in Week 1. The AFC West showdown will be televised on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes (en español).

The league has not yet announced if the game will be played in Denver or Kansas City. The location for the matchup will be announced when the NFL announces the full 2026 schedule on Thursday evening.

The NFL opting to put the Chiefs in a Week 1 spotlight might be a sign that they expect superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) to be recovered in time for the opener, but that's certainly not a guarantee.

As for the Broncos, quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) is on track to be full-speed for training camp, which begins in late July. We'll find out in a few months if it'll be a Nix-Mahomes showdown in Week 1. KC's backup is Justin Fields, who is 1-2 against Denver in his career.
