Dallas tight end Princeton Fant suffered a season-ending left knee injury on Monday in NFL training camp.
He suffered an ACL and partial MCL injury when he was blocked backward into running back Israel Abanikanda during the Cowboys' first full-padded practice.
Fant signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2023, following his collegiate career at Tennessee. He has appeared in 11 games for the Cowboys.
"Really disappointed for him, for everything that he's put into this," Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. "Obviously, he was very disappointed, but I told him, 'Hey look, your story's far from over.' He's been through this injury before, and the doctors feel really good about the chance for him making a full recovery."
Fant previously suffered a knee injury during his sophomore year of high school, which caused him to miss all of his junior season and most of his senior campaign.
Fant played for the Vols from 2018-22. He appeared in 46 games, including 14 starts. He had 52 career receptions for 579 yards and six touchdowns. Fant also totaled five career rushing touchdowns and recorded one passing touchdown.
