I feel the same way about Allen, which in my opinion makes him a fourth round talent... like a speedy WR who cannot consistently catch the ball no matter how fast he can run

Once you take out his name snafus, I find him to be one of the most informative guys calling a game. Sure most find his comments boring because he is talking actual football unlike the colorful commentary of most but he talks formations and responsibility of the players with great insight... and I accept his name goofs as added entertainment lol

Each player and his traits are unique. It would be just our luck to avoid the red-haird dude and then watch him turn into the next Johnny U.

Billick has admitted that the reason he is in the booth now instead of coaching is because he couldn't differentiate QB prospects.

I'm sure it's his form of self-deprecating humor, but I think there is a lot of truth there.

That is a broad metaphor for something which is the complete opposite... you cannot throw broad passes in the NFL, they better be accurate lol

There’s been wayyyyyy to many guys who had the athletic ability, size, the measurables & cannon arm that couldn’t hit the broad side of the barn.

It’s more about trying to increase the odds of drafting a productive stud NFL QB. Imo arm strength is prolly number 3 or 4 what it takes to be a great NFL QB.

It’s more about trying to increase the odds of drafting a productive stud NFL QB. Imo arm strength is prolly number 3 or 4 what it takes to be a great NFL QB.

I have one saving grace as a fan, I am usually only half right on all my opinions, and that's when I am lucky, which makes me mediocre in all my evaluations... making me think that the fact I do not care for Allen, is all the consolation I need to be ecstatic if we draft him lol

There's a big difference between picking Allen at 1 vs. 15, especially if he busts out. I'd be okay with the latter. The first one would suck, particularly given what it would take to move up to get him.

The Allen/ Russell comparison has no merit in my book. The main reason Russell failed is because he is stupid. I'll never forget him being interviewed on ESPN one morning and saying to myself, this guy is a moron and is one of the dumbest people I have ever seen in an interview.

Harry, with all respects sir, you might be able to fine tune a guy's throwing motion or stance but you are not going to significantly improve accuracy in my opinion. Now, if he is inaccurate due to difficulties in reading a defense or anticipation, I think you can actually teach that through repetition because it's not directly physical but mental and not rocket science (though for some, even that can take too long for the patience of a NFL franchise). Sometimes it's simply you are surrounded by a crappy supporting group, which can hinder accuracy removed from the QB's actual ability. The first you cannot as much as arm strength unless the team drafting Allen has a time machine and can go back when he first adapted his throwing approach. There has never been a QB who got better with accuracy to my knowledge. Heck, some of it has to do with what you cannot really see as the movement of the wrist and how it comes off the fingers. Sometimes the instincts from hand to eye coordination is just slow enough to not succeed as a pro

This is not baseball, it's a brutal contact sport and a guy cannot go to the 'summer league' and play three hundred football games and improve like a pitcher. Guys are coming in to take your head off regardless of the rules, and your instincts are going to revert to how you have learn since a pup on how to throw the ball while under duress, chaos which Allen cannot even phantom while playing at lowly Wyoming. Allen is not going to become more accurate if it has to do with his form throwing and by improvement, I am talking significant improvement to improve his crapalicious completion ratio from college

For me Ryan Lindley is a great example because it appears he is valued as a quarterback coach by some. The man knows how you are suppose to throw the ball, he teaches QBs. He has more than enough arm strength but yet he cannot change what he is, the bad habits are already in his DNA so to speak, a word our new coach likes a lot. I think Lamar Jackson has a better chance of becoming more accurate than Allen can, because I do not think his accuracy issues are totally arm related... I guess we will find out

I would say how well and quickly a QB can read a defense is probably number one in my book and two how well does he throw under pressure and part of this is to continue to look downfield as the rush is closing in. SO many QBs coming out of college now and even more so in the future are going to need a lot more seasoning. Watch a typical college game and you see the QB look over to the sidelines as the snap clock is winding down looking for instructions and whether to change the play or not. College coaches are not asking the QB to do anything more than a first read if that. The sidelines are going through all types of hand signals the QB is supposed to know so he knows what to do.
