PITTSBURGH – A familiar face is back in the Milwaukee Brewers clubhouse.

Recently designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs earlier this week, Bryse Wilson was signed by the Brewers ahead of a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 10.

Wilson has made three appearances this year with the Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies, including 4 ⅓ scoreless innings against the Brewers on June 28. He has a 6.52 ERA a year after pitching to a 6.65 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 19 walks across 47 ⅓ innings with the Chicago White Sox last year.

Wilson, 28, has spent parts of nine seasons in the majors, with his best seasons coming in Milwaukee, where he had a 3.42 earned run average in 87 games between 2023-24.

In 2023 he filled an important role in the Brewers bullpen, making 53 appearances and logging six wins, five holds and three saves in 76 ⅔ innings while working in a variety of roles. The following year he made nine starts out of 34 appearances and surpassed 100 innings but was non-tendered after the conclusion of the season.

Wilson joins the Brewers at the tail end of an 18-game, 17-day stretch to wrap up the first half.

Milwaukee optioned left-hander Drew Rom to Class AAA Nashville and designated right-hander Easton McGee for assignment in corresponding moves.
