Brewers reliever Abner Uribe drops his appeal and will serve suspension

CINCINNATI – After waiting nearly a month for a verdict, Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe dropped the appeal of his one-game suspension and will serve it June 24 in the series finale against the Cincinnati Reds.

Major League Baseball issued Uribe a suspension May 29 for his triple crotch chop toward the St. Louis Cardinals dugout three days prior. The right-hander instantly appealed, allowing him to remain active while awaiting a decision.

That verdict never came down despite nearly the full month wait. So, with the schedule working out as it has, it made sense for Uribe for drop the appeal and serve the suspension in Cincinnati.

Uribe would have been unavailable for the Brewers out of the bullpen anyway, having pitched four of the past five days. With an off-day June 25 ahead of 18 games in 17 days leading into the All-Star break, the Brewers talked Uribe into accepting the punishment so he could be fully fresh.
