The Milwaukee Brewers have scored only two runs in three of their last four games.
Sure, one of those games saw them come out on top, 2-1, but that's a lot of pressure to be putting on this pitching staff.
As seen in the series opener in Atlanta, not even Jacob Misiorowski is perfect. The Brewers ace gave up a pair in the sixth inning and ended up taking the loss because the Brewers are in an offensive slump.
In their last two games, Milwaukee has left 23 runners on base. They're just 3-for-23 with runners in scoring position in that sample size, a number that proves why this team has fallen in a pair of winnable games.
Time and time again, Milwaukee is able to get the bases loaded but they have nothing to show for it. It's happened on more than one occasion in this miniscule two-game losing streak.
That may not feel like much currently, but these things add up over time and could be the difference maker when it comes down to who's the No. 1 seed in the National League.
Knowing that's the seed Milwaukee had last season, it's not unrealistic to once again have that as the goal. This team has a phenomenal pitching staff, but the offense simply hasn't been there in clutch moments these past two nights.
Coming off a three-strikeout game, Brice Turang turned things around with a pair of hits and RBIs against the Braves. Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio both went 1-for-4 with a walk, but three of manager Pat Murphy's four pinch-hitters failed to get on base.
Jake Bauers may have drawn a walk, but not a single pinch-hitter in Atlanta recorded a hit.
Other than Chourio being thrown out in the ninth, the biggest moment of the game took place when Murphy elected to go with Frelick at the plate instead of Cooper Pratt.
He was playing for the matchup, but pulled this team's newest call-up for Frelick, a guy who recorded a hit in just one of his five pinch-hitting appearances this month.
Frelick drew the count full but grounded a ball to the mound and was thrown out with ease. As for Sanchez, he also came up empty and that's happened to him quite consistently. In terms of his pinch-hitting appearances, he has just one hit in his last 11 appearances.
