Velocity was a bit of an issue in Jacob Misiorowski's first start back after the All-Star break.
The 2026 Cy Young candidate was on a pitch count, as the Milwaukee Brewers know just how important it's going to be to have Miz around come October.
Seeing as this team has the best record in all of baseball, there's nothing wrong with looking ahead to the postseason. That said, they must get as much mileage out of Misiorowski during the regular season as possible, as he's been a crucial part of this team stacking wins.
On Tuesday, July 21, the Brewers officially announced their probable starters as they end a nine-game home stand. With the Colorado Rockies looming, the National League West participants now know who they have to prepare for.
After such a grind to get to the All-Star break with 18 games in 17 days, including a pair of doubleheaders, the Brewers are able to enjoy an off day on Thursday, July 23. Their first nine games back from the break are all at home, but fans of American Family Field were only able to see Miz throw four innings.
Drohan has been named the series opener as he looks for his sixth win of the season. The 27-year-old threw six solid innings in his most recent start, where he allowed three runs on five hits, but most importantly set a career high with nine strikeouts.
Robert Gasser is the second straight left-handed starter the Brewers will be throwing at the Rockies. Other than the solo home run he allowed on July 19, he was nearly flawless in his five-inning start.
Gasser may not have recorded a decision in that start, but it was a huge improvement from the seven runs he allowed in his final start of the first half. Now, his ERA has fallen back below 5.00.
Earlier in the day, the Brewers revealed that Brandon Sproat would be pitching on four days of rest. A few hours later, they shook things up and confirmed Misiorowski would indeed be pitching against the Rockies.
Instead of giving Miz a full week off, he'll have five days of rest and take the mound on Sunday, July 26. Officially, that gives Sproat his fifth day of rest and he's scheduled to start on Monday, July 27.
