Highlights of his 2013 season

I noticed a couple things I like (hopefully he improved in 2014):

1. He doesn't seem to throw the ball if guys are covered. Probably why his completion % was about 70% this season 2014.

2. He moves great in the pocket, stands tall and looks over the field.

3. Runs well and isn't afraid to take off when he sees a lane or no one is open.

4. Seems to make quick decisions. Doesn't seem lost back there at all.

I have seen Hundley in plenty of games over the last two seasons. Has the physical tools. Don't think he will be successful in the NFL. His play is too erratic, and is typical of a guy that has depended upon superior athleticism to be successful. More Colin Kapernick than Russel Wilson. . .

Great athlete. Lousy QB at the next level.

After watching the video and reading the scouting reports on him, I think the scouting reports pretty much hit the nail on the head. He really doesn't go through his progressions well and runs at the slightest bit of pressure. Almost never takes snaps under center and tends to lock onto his primary receiver.

Certainly not worthy of a first round pick. The earliest he should go is somewhere in the third round. He is not that different than Thomas except he is somewhat more accurate. If you already have Thomas in camp why would you bring in some one who is almost a clone of Thomas?

2 3 and 4 are the exact opposite of reality with Hundley. He runs well but he doesn't move well in the pocket, he often runs into sacks or moves from a clean pocket for no reason and then can't throw.

He IS afraid to take off, they actually had to spend time every day in practice telling him to run more. I don't think he's afraid to run it just isn't in his head I'm about to get pressure I should run, he will stand there and get hit over and over. You will be screaming at the tv throw the ball or take off, and he won't.

He got better but he was the epitome of deer in the headlights at time, he'd freeze in the pocket for no apparent reason.

If you watch the highlights of his TD passes you'll see wide open players over and over. UCLA didn't have great speed but they had an OC who was pretty good at scheming 2-3 plays a game where someone was wide open for a TD, and Brett didn't hit all of them or even close to all of them.

Very good college QB, as a UCLA fan he was part of the resurrection of the program under Mora. But it was impossible to watch the UCLA losses the last 2 seasons and not think if Brett was just better in the pocket we could have won more games. UCLA lost 6 games in those 2 years, I think at least 4 of those losses were the result of Brett not playing well, even if he had impressive stats there were plays in each game that were there to be made that he didn't make.

I keep seeing people say the Eagles should take him, perfect for Kelly's offense, I don't know I buy that but we'll see.

I'll say this more than once this offseason, just like I do every offseason: don't scout players based on a highlight reel. What you're seeing are all of a guys BEST plays, and none of his worst--that's why it's a highlight reel.

I know this takes a little more time to watch, but it's much more representative of how you should evaluate a prospect. Every play in a game. Scouts watch films like this because you don't just get the highlight reel when you draft a prospect, you get every part of the package--good and bad.

I bet he would be a good TE if QB doesn't work
