How does everyone feel about Steve Breaston taking over the #3 spot from BJ?

I believe we are looking at a BIG upgrade. I have really been impressed by Breaston's performance in the pre-season to date. He has the speed and moves to be a great compliment to what Fitz and Q offer.

Breaston could wind up being a #2. That makes a #3 more confusing.

Breaston

He looks pretty good in the preseason games. And my only question is, will his performance carry over to the regular season? If yes, then I feel good about the 3rd WR spot.

My biggest question about Breaston is how he'll perform after getting hit hard. I can't remember him getting popped yet in the preseason and I want to see if he gets "alligator arms" the next time he goes over the middle. Other than that though, I think he'll be a really good slot receiver. He's got the speed to get deep and the quickness to beat his man across the middle.

Having seen the hits he's taken in the return game without a flinch, I think that question has been answered, at least to my satisfaction.

The trio of Breaston, Urban and Doucet makes the unit stronger. All three may be used at #3s in certain situations.

It's freaking preseason. I don't buy it until the games start to matter.

Beat me too it. I was thinking the exact same thing.

I'm not too stressed about Breaston vs BJ as the #3. I seem to recall BJ playing lights out in preseason and in camp almost every year he was here...then he would drop the friggen ball at the worst possible moment when the games started counting. Every year, same thing.

My concern about Breaston is, will he be where he is supposed to be when Matt/Kurt throw the ball to him. So far, the jury is still out.

Go Cards!!!

Breaston looks to be a much better run after the catch guy -- he has a feel for open space --

BJ seemed much more straight line

Is BJ still hurt? I know he missed game 2 with "a hamstring" per 9er homer announcers.

The Bryant Johnson effect?

Oh yeah, Breaston could be nothing more than a preseason hero.

As much as I used to heckle Bryant "Skillet" Johnson, he improved a little bit each year, and had some big catches for us here and there.

Breaston has a long way to go, just to get to where Bryant Johnson was, IMO.

I will agree Breaston is playing well right now, as long as he keeps improving we will have a solid 3 WR.

That is a the answer right there.

Totally agree. Plus we don't even know what we have in Doucet yet.

Well--

last year at this time, when the Cards went to a four receiver set -- the fourth man was Sean Morey

this year its probably Jerheme Urban with Early Doucet waiting on the bench--

better overall by far

I like Breaston a lot more this year than I did last year. I think his toughness in PS Week 1 did it for me.

I just think its cool that someone was able to include Breast and BJ in the same sentence while talking about Pro Football.

Hahahahahaha. You mean...illegal use of the hands? Wide Receiver? Tight ends. Bend down & penetrate the tight end with some illegal contact, and hope there is a wide receiver to handle the rocket down the middle, and the deep balls.

We "immature" football fans might actually deserve some credit for not always haw-hawing through this stuff. Levitra could have a field day if they ever do another football-metaphor ad (gross, hope not).
