The Indianapolis Colts landed the tight end that has been mocked to them so often and the position that they needed to fill so desperately. At pick No. 14, the Colts selected Penn State's Tyler Warren.

It's been easy to see why Warren has been such a popular pick for the Colts in mocks. As mentioned and as we all know, this position is a major hole on the Colts' roster, and Warren was widely considered the top tight end in this year's class.

He can provide that needed pass-catching element, having totaled over 100 receptions and over 1,200 yards last season. But also importantly, Warren is a very capable blocker as well, an element that cannot be overlooked in Shane Steichen's offense.

That well-rounded skill set brings an element of unpredictability to an offense because that player is able to fill a variety of roles, which keeps defenses guessing. With that, beyond Warren's own impact on the stat sheet, his teammates around him can benefit from his presence with the mismatches he could potentially create.

"That's to me the hard one to find," Chris Ballard said on run-blocking at the tight end position, via the team site, "... to be able to play on all three downs, to be able to be functional in the run game to where you don't necessarily know it's always a pass when he's in the game, and then to be able to finish and make plays at critical times and have him give the quarterback an option in the middle of the field."

Colston Loveland, the other top tight end prospect in this year's class, was taken at 10th overall by the Chicago Bears.
