It's a wild day for the Schenn family in the NHL. Luke Schenn was dealt earlier in the day, and now his brother Brayden Schenn is off from the St. Louis Blues to the New York Islanders.

It's intriguing for a number of reasons. It's the Blues dealing their captain, and he had to waive his no-trade clause to do it. Plus, the Islanders gave up a lot here to grab some Stanley Cup-winning experience as the Isles try to make the postseason.

But, there's a lot to break down here, so as usual, we're handing out some trade grades along with the details of what went down between the two teams. Let's break it all down:

Blues and Islanders trade details

Islanders get: C Brayden Schenn

Blues get: A first-round pick, a third-round pick and "a prospect" (we'll update when we know more)

Islanders trade grade

Ehhhh. I don't know. Sure, center depth is very much a thing for a playoff team and grabbing a player who has won a Cup is a good call for the Isles given where they're at right now. But that's A LOT for a 34-year-old who has a $6.5M AAV through 2028.

Is that really an upgrade? Is that worth a first- AND third-rounder AND a prospect? For a player who has just 28 points this season? I say no. This one's a head-scratcher. GRADE: C-

Blues trade grade

The sound you hear is the Blues' front office high fiving and popping some bubbly. They shed Schenn's contract and get back some serious draft capital as they retool. The Colton Parayko trade that fell through would have been even better, but this is a great trade on paper. GRADE: A
