The Atlanta Braves are sitting in command atop the NL East, with their 16-8 record and the struggling Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets well behind them.

For the Braves, things are getting even more exciting for Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals. They made a roster move, and it's a fun one.

As the Braves announced, the team is calling up Didier Fuentes, the 20-year-old top pitching prospect, and will hand him the ball to start against the Nationals on Wednesday night.

Braves recall Didier Fuentes to start vs. Nationals

"The Braves today recalled RHP Didier Fuentes to Atlanta and designated RHP Ian Hamilton for assignment," the Braves announced. "Fuentes will start tonight's game."

The Braves are handing the ball over to Fuentes to start Wednesday night's game against the Nationals. It will be his first start in the big league season.

He made one appearance earlier this year, posting a 2.25 ERA across four innings of work in relief. But now, he's getting a chance in the starting rotation.

Last year, he made four starts and went 13 innings. He allowed a 13.85 ERA in a rough debut season, but this year, the 20-year-old righty looks a good bit better.

Across three starts down in the minor leagues this season, Fuentes has posted a 2.16 ERA across 16.2 innings of work with 20 strikeouts and a 0.84 WHIP.

Fuentes will get the start tonight against the Nationals, as he looks to help the NL East-leading Braves further extend their lead in the division, and also bounce back from the tough Tuesday night 11-4 loss to the Nationals.
