The Atlanta Braves are bringing back a familiar face to the organization.

The left-handed hitter played seven games with the Braves earlier this season.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, veteran first baseman Rowdy Tellez has re-signed with the NL East club on a minor league deal.

Tellez was DFA'd and outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett by the Braves last week. After a brief free agency stint, he's back with Atlanta.

"Given the construction of Atlanta’s roster, a lengthy stint in the big leagues was always going to be tough to attain for Tellez," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.

"Both he and Dominic Smith are left-handed first base/DH journeymen who can’t be optioned, making it difficult to carry both on the 40-man roster alongside star first baseman Matt Olson," Adams added.

The 31-year-old provides the Braves with power and a DH/1B option. In nine seasons in the Majors, Tellez has connected for 123 career home runs.

During his time at Triple-A Gwinnett, he crushed minor league pitching.

He hit .259/.367/.483 with eight homers and 15 doubles in 207 trips to the plate.

Tellez hit a career-high 35 long balls with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2022, and he's also spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, and Seattle Mariners.
