The Buffalo Bills did not waste any time in bolstering their roster at the start of the new league year.
Less than 30 minutes after the start of free agency officially began, edge rusher Bradley Chubb agreed to terms on a new contract with Buffalo.
The Miami Dolphins officially released Chubb at the start of the league's new year at 4 p.m. ET on March 11, designating the pass rusher as a post-June 1 release.
Miami had already informed Chubb of his release as early as Feb. 16. At that time, the Dolphins were set to enter the offseason $17.4 million over the NFL's salary cap for 2026, according to OverTheCap on Feb. 16. Chubb's cap hit for 2026 was listed at $31.2 million.
By designating Chubb's release as a post-June 1 transaction, Miami is saving $20.2 million with $11 million left in dead cap for 2026 and $12.9 million in dead cap pushed into the Dolphins' 2027 spending, per Spotrac.
Chubb hit free agency and quickly found a new home within the division after leading the Dolphins with 8.5 sacks in 2025. He will join Bills pass rusher Greg Rousseau in Buffalo's front seven and serve as something of a replacement for Joey Bosa, who is now a free agent.
