Brad Dalke, who announced recently he's stepping away from Good Good Golf to concentrate on spending more time with his family, shot a strong round with a near-ace in Day 1 on the DP World Tour in Germany on Thursday.
In a video posted on social media, Dalke detailed how his wife, Abbie, has been dealing with a number of health issues. He's not completely stepping away from the game, however.
Dalke, who helped Oklahoma win a national title, had previously accepted a sponsor invite on the DP World Tour and followed through on that commitment. On Thursday, he shot 3-under 69 in the BMW International Open in Germany. It was almost a 68 but for a near-miss on a hole-in-one on the 12th hole, when his ball just skirted past the hole.
Jayden Schaper and Hennie du Plessis share the lead after shooting 8-under 64s, so that leaves Dalke five shots back.
If he can hold serve, however, he'll make the cut and play the weekend.
