Boys volleyball: Former Alter coach named to OBSVCA Hall of Fame

Jun. 12—Alter boys volleyball head coach Craig Erford is one of two members of the inaugural Ohio Boys Scholastic Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame class.

Erford was the head coach at Alter for 12 seasons from 2010-2021. The Knights won six state championships in nine appearances, eight times won the Greater Catholic League Co-ed championship and had a 217-67 overall record during his tenure.

He was named the 2021 USMC/AVCA National High School Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year and won multiple state, regional and GCL coach of the year honors.

Erford was joined in the Hall of Fame class by former Cincinnati Moeller coach Greg Ulland.

The event will take place Friday, June 12 at Wilmington College's Fred Raizk Arena. A ceremony will be held in-between the two Ohio All-Star game matches that begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and those aged 18 or under get in free.

Several area players will participate in the inaugural OBSVCA All Star Game.

Austin Dreher, a junior, of Lakota East will play in the Division I game. Dreher was named first team all-state for the 2026 season.

Parker Davidson of Carroll, Brandt Bowling of Badin, and Parker Povse of Fenwick, all of whom are seniors, will play in the Division II game. Povse made first team all-state, while Davidson was second team, and Bowling was honorable mention.

Chaminade Julienne junior Beckett Detamore also was an honorable mention selection.

The all-star game participants will be presented with their all-state awards at the game.
